These tours are intended to give participants a first-hand look at a number of CAL schools, including the main campus in Santa Cruz de Yojoa and several remote satellites, as well as the opportunity to visit various cultural, historical, and natural sites of interest. A typical tour lasts about 11 days, including travel time to Honduras, and is usually combined with an optional three-day excursion to the resort island of Roatan off the coast of Honduras in the Caribbean Sea.
It should be noted that many of the computers that have been used in the CAL schools were brought from Canada by Learning Tour participants.
Sombrilla Board member Gordon, and his wife Wendy have been leading Learning Tours to Honduras since 2014. Gordon is a retired oil and gas production engineering professional and Wendy is retired from a career in marketing and promotions. They are both active volunteers in several organizations and have traveled extensively around the globe.
