Sombrilla is proud to welcome our newest partner, the Mesoamerican Institute for Permaculture in Guatemala, IMAP. (pronounced eemap)
This eight month project is a pilot program between Sombrilla and IMAP to assess the workability and sustainability of our work together

Project Objective
To lead and manage a comprehensive environmental education program that combines ancestral agroecological practices with permaculture models, engaging youth and women from San Lucas Tolimán to promote food sovereignty, ecological awareness, and community-led sustainable development.

In response to soil degradation, water loss, and high levels of malnutrition in Indigenous Kaqchikel Mayan communities, IMAP combines ancestral knowledge with permaculture to promote food sovereignty, climate resilience, and biodiversity conservation, guided by the principles of Earth Care, People Care, and Fair Share.
